Pool club night to be held on Friday 24th June @ Roedean Girls School - £5 for non club members. Membership cards are ready for those who have joined – if you have not collected them – they are in the office.

THE UNDERWATER GUN RUN IN AID OF HELP THE HERO'S @ THE UNDERWATER STUDIO'S 24TH & 25TH SEPTEMBER 2011
We need to get a team of 4 x divers who will be willing to take up this challenge.
We are only allowed to enter one team so get your names down on the form in the shop - then we will then put your names in a hat a pick the team.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- A team of 4 divers are to move steel cannon around a fixed course in the fastest time possible.
- Lift bags are to be used to lift the cannon over a series of obstacles.
- There are 4 obstacles that require the cannon to be lifted over.
- 2 obstacles that require the cannon to be disassembled to allow the cannon through.
- And finally 1 obstacle that requires the cannon to be taken through positioned at approx 3m off the bottom of the pool.
- Time is added for faults with the overall time being the actual time taken plus the time faults added.
- The winners are the team with the fastest time.
- During the challenge each member of the team must take the same route as the cannon if divers do not replicate the canon time penalties will be added.
- The weight of the canon will be provided and each team will be responsible for rigging and lifting the cannon with there own lift bags.
- There will be a maximum time limit for the run any teams who do not complete the run in the maximum time will have a time penalty added.
- Course layout to be confirmed detailed prior to start.
- Each team will be briefed prior to them entering the water.
- It is envisaged that we will be able to accommodate a maximum of 25 teams per day over the 2 days.
The entrance fee per team is £50.00 with all this money going to HELP THE HERO'S (which Newhaven Scuba Centre will be paying) so all we need from you are some serious participants.
This event will be streamed live over the internet and hope to have television coverage of this event.

CLUB MEETING - FRIDAY 15TH APRIL 2011

1. CLUB MEMBERSHIP IS NOW DUE FOR THE YEAR 1ST APRIL 2011 – 31ST MARCH 2012 FORMS ARE IN THE SHOP ……. If you have paid and not received your card yet – please call into the dive centre to collect it.
2. CLUB MEMBERSHIP FOR THE UNDER 17’S OR IF STILL IN FULL TIME EDUCATION WAS DISCUSSED BY COMMITTEE MEMBERS. The committee members have agreed that if a member is under the age of 17 or still in full time education that a reduction for Club membership will be applied. THE REDUCED PRICE WILL BE £40.00
3. MARINA Glenn has had a meeting with Phil Godfrey, Marina Manager from Premier Marinas to which they discussed how to identify divers that are diving our Brighton Marina Dive Site without permission. They have decided that security will now check if you have permission to dive the site by asking each diver for their marina pass. So please ensure that you have your membership card with you if you are diving at the marina. If you do not have a membership then call into the office for a temporary card – the cost for non-members is £10.
4. WEYMOUTH/PORTLAND WEEKEND 7TH – 8TH MAY 2011 This trip is now full. For those that are going, there will be a meeting at the Dive Centre on Friday 29th April 2011 @ 14.00 Please ensure that you can make it or call the dive centre to let us know if you can’t – this is so that we can then update you with the schedule for the weekend
5. FRIDAY 29TH APRIL 2011 – BBQ We are hoping to have our 1st BBQ of the season on this date. (Something to do with a royal wedding). This will be weather dependant.
6. KERNOW DIVE FESTIVAL – 11TH – 12TH JUNE 2011 Only 3 x Spaces left. Also can you let the dive centre know if you are camping or staying in a B/B – we need to know numbers a.s.a.p.
7. RED SEA LIVE ABOARD 3rd July 2011 – Lots of spaces still available, could you please let us know if you are interested.
8. LYME REGIS WEEKEND – 10TH – 11TH SEPTEMBER 2011 Still 8 x Spaces left This is diving on the Miss Pattie (Hard Boat) with either camping or B/B the choice is yours.
9. NEMO 33 & BELGIUM CHRISTMAS MARKET (LATE NOVEMBER EARLY DECEMBER) Details to follow ..
10. SCAPA FLOW – 16TH – 24TH JUNE 2012 This trip is now FULL. For those that are going we need to now make up your deposit to £200 – (extra £50.00 from everyone on the trip) as we now have to pay our final balance for the deposit by 28th April 2011.
11. BDMLR COURSE (TO BE ARRANGED) If anyone is interested please put your names down on the form in the shop – need at least 6 people.
12. LITTLEHAMPTON/SHOREHAM DAY TRIPS We have had lots of interests in planning day trips a short distance along the coast. If there are any wreck in particular that you would like to dive then lets us know and we will see if we are able to do them. As soon as we have dates we will let you all know
13. CLUB POOL NIGHT IS FRIDAY 13TH MAY @ ROEDEAN GIRLS SCHOOL. This is for club members only. *no exceptions
